Un terremoto de magnitud preliminar 5,9 en la escala de Richter ha sacudido durante la madrugada de este domingo el este de Japón, con especial incidencia en la región de Tokio y las prefecturas próximas, donde además han resultado heridas 37 personas y se han registrado interrupciones en algunos servicios ferroviarios. La Agencia Meteorológica de Japón (JMA) ha descartado la posibilidad de tsunami.

En total, la cifra de heridos asciende por el momento a 37 en cinco prefecturas de la región: 15 en Tokio, nueve en Saitama, ocho en Kanagawa, cuatro en Chiba y una en Ibaraki, según datos de funcionarios prefecturales y de la Agencia de Gestión de Incendios y Desastres recogidos por el diario japonés ‘Yomiuri’.

JR East y otros operadores han comunicado retrasos en el comienzo de determinadas líneas mientras se realizaban las comprobaciones de seguridad pertinentes.
